Large projects in the oil and gas industry were considered

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on major projects being implemented in the oil and gas sector.

This year, two resolutions were adopted aimed at improving the activities of JSC Uzbekneftegaz and addressing issues related to procurement and production.

During the presentation, the implementation of these resolutions, natural gas production indicators, and measures planned through the end of the year were reviewed.

To increase gas reserves, geological exploration work is being expanded. In particular, this year it is planned to increase the volume of three-dimensional seismic surveys fivefold compared with last year. Since the beginning of the year, five new gas fields have been discovered, and 80 wells, including deep wells reaching 6,000 meters and more, have been drilled in the regions. In the fourth quarter, it is planned to drill another 40 wells.

Plans were presented for studying promising areas, first of all the deep-lying strata of Ustyurt, developing new fields, and improving the efficiency of existing wells.

To solve these tasks, it is important to bring drilling operations to a new level and introduce modern technological solutions.

At present, a number of projects are being implemented on Ustyurt together with foreign partners to drill new wells, reanalyze geophysical data, and improve gas production efficiency.

The presentation also analyzed the financial results of JSC Uzbekneftegaz and its major enterprises. Based on the results of nine months, their combined net profit increased compared with the corresponding period last year. Optimization of the loan portfolio made it possible to reduce debt, while revising the terms of loans with high interest rates reduced servicing costs.

Special attention was given to projects aimed at increasing the throughput capacity of the gas transportation system. They provide for the construction of new trunk gas pipelines and the modernization of compressor stations.

The implementation of these projects, including the use of modern electric motors at certain stations, will make it possible to improve supply stability and save up to 125 million cubic meters of natural gas per year. Proposals on sources of financing for the projects were also considered.

The presentation separately addressed the work to eliminate the accident at the 25th Anniversary of Independence field. A specialized Chinese company has been brought in for this. Special machinery and equipment are currently being delivered to the site, and preparations are underway for drilling locations.

It was noted that strict compliance with safety requirements is of paramount importance at all stages of eliminating the accident.

Information was also presented on the work to increase production volumes and improve the financial health of the Fergana Oil Refinery.

As a result of repairs to the main process units, production of diesel fuel at the plant increased by 30 percent, bitumen by 60 percent, and jet fuel by five times.

Comprehensive measures are being taken to ensure stable supplies of raw materials to the plant, efficient use of existing capacities, and reduction of debt. By the end of the year, it is planned to increase the plant’s utilization from 40 to 65 percent, with further growth to follow.

The head of our state gave the responsible officials instructions to improve the effectiveness of geological exploration and drilling work, implement major projects based on careful calculations and defined sources of financing, and increase the efficiency of enterprises in the sector.
