Namangan region attracts billions of dollars of investment in energy

Electricity supply to the Namangan region has improved significantly in recent years due to the implementation of new energy projects. The regional khokim Shavkat Abdurazakov announced this on August 25 at the commissioning ceremony of new facilities with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to the khokim, an electricity storage system with a capacity of 200 MW worth $200 million is being built in the border area with Kyrgyzstan. In addition, projects for the development of solar and other generation are being implemented in the Namangan region.

In particular, there are two solar power plants with a capacity of 500 MW in the region. Power plants with a total capacity of about 300 MW are being built in the Chust, Chartak, Naryn and Uychin districts, and another station with a capacity of 200 MW is announced in the Pap district.

“Everyone repeats one thing with confidence: in Uzbekistan, in Namangan, people have already forgotten the expression ‘the electricity has been turned off,’” Abdurazakov said in a story on the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.

On August 25, as part of the ceremony, a project for an electricity storage system in the Uychinsky district was presented. The EPC project provides for the installation of a storage device with a capacity of 100 MW and a capacity of 200 MWh.

The system allows you to accumulate electricity during periods of low demand and use it when the load on the power system increases. The accumulated energy is returned to the network during periods of increased consumption by the population and enterprises.

On the Great Andijan Canal in the Uchkurgan and Naryn regions, small hydroelectric power stations Kugai-1 with a capacity of 12 MW and Kugai-2 with a capacity of 6 MW were also put into operation.

In addition to energy, the region is increasing investment activity. According to Abdurazakov, last year the volume of attracted investments amounted to $4 billion, and in the eight months of this year - $3.2 billion. The goal for the entire year is to raise $5 billion.

Recently, within the framework of cooperation with Azerbaijan, the implementation of three projects worth a total of $210 million began in the Namangan region. This year, investments worth 12 trillion soums are being absorbed in the region from all sources.

The development of road infrastructure also continues in the region. This year it is planned to repair and improve 1,300 km of internal roads. In recent years, according to the khokim, 6,400 km of such roads have been asphalted.

Abdurazakov said that by the end of the year the region intends to achieve its goals of reducing poverty and eliminating unemployment.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in turn, noted changes in the Namangan region over the past ten years and the emergence of new sectors of the economy. On August 25, the head of state took part in the commissioning ceremony of 72 large investment projects and 91 social facilities with a total value of 50 trillion soums.
