The President launched 12 projects worth $176 million in Khorezm

12 new projects worth $176 million have been commissioned in the Khorezm region. About thisreportsPresidential press service.

Over the past nine years, $7.5 billion of investments have been attracted to the Khorezm region and 9.7 thousand new production facilities have been launched. More than 33 trillion soums of loans were allocated for small and medium-sized business projects.

Against this background, the real incomes of the region`s population doubled. The share of people employed in industry and construction reached 18%, in the service sector - 55%. The poverty rate fell to 4.4%, and unemployment was halved to 4.5%. 72 mahallas received the status of free from unemployment and poverty.

At the same time, the tourism infrastructure in the region is expanding. Over nine years, 280 hotels and guest houses were built, and the hotel stock increased fourfold. Over the past five years, the number of foreign tourists has increased tenfold, and 11 new tourist sites have been introduced.

Special attention is paid to transport infrastructure. On the eve of Independence Day, an electrified railway line was put into operation, connecting Urgench International Airport with Khiva. The Urgench-Khiva toll road is also being launched - the first toll road in Uzbekistan. After its launch, travel time between cities will be reduced from 45 to 20 minutes.

In 2026, the volume of foreign investment attracted to the region should exceed $2 billion. For comparison, in 2016 this figure was only $30 million.

Since the beginning of the year, conditions have been created in Urgench, Khiva, Tuprokkala and Urgench regions for the implementation of new projects in the chemical industry, mechanical engineering, production of building materials and tourism. The category of 195 hectares of land has been changed for industrial needs, and another 100 billion soums have been allocated to improve the electricity and road infrastructure.

Another 15 large projects with a total investment volume of $7.42 billion have started implementation.

Among the new projects is the production of environmentally friendly aviation fuel in the Tuprokkala region. The project worth $6 billion will be implemented jointly with partners from the UAE with the participation of the Chinese company Sinopec. Currently, preparation of the land plot and development of project documentation have begun.

Together with Slovak partners, it is planned to develop 5 thousand hectares of sandy land and create a bioethanol production enterprise worth $170 million. Practical work has already begun on an area of ​​1.5 thousand hectares.

In Urgench, Japanese investors are implementing a project to build a hotel with 250 beds and a shopping and entertainment complex worth $30 million. The facility is planned to be fully launched in 2027.

Also, in the regional center, with the participation of a partner from Saudi Arabia, a modern boiler house will be built, which will provide heat and electricity to 183 apartment buildings and 37 social facilities. Together with Turkish partners, it is planned to create an ophthalmology clinic on a public-private partnership basis.

In the Urgench region, Korean investors are implementing a project to process waste using a closed cycle principle and produce green energy with a capacity of 71 MW. The investment volume will be $100 million.

A tourist complex “Sakhro Yulduzi” worth $120 million will be created on an area of ​​26 hectares near Khiva. A copper industry cluster worth $26 million and a fiber-optic cable production enterprise worth $60 million will also appear in the Urgench region.

In the town of Al-Khorezmi it is planned to build a modern university for 5 thousand students, a hotel, recreational and shopping complexes. The “House of Investors” building will be erected in Urgench.

In general, the implementation of the announced projects provides for the creation of 6.6 thousand new jobs.

The President expressed gratitude to foreign partners and members of the public participating in the implementation of projects, after which, with a symbolic press of a button, he put new facilities into operation and launched the construction of promising enterprises.
