Chinese companies will build two new power plants in Uzbekistan

The Government of Uzbekistan has signed agreements with Chinese companies for the construction of wind and solar power plants with a total capacity of 1,500 MW. The plants will be located in Karakalpakstan and the Jizzakh region.

The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan signed the investment agreements for the construction of the power stations. The signing ceremony took place as part of the First International Climate Forum in Samarkand, according to the ministry.

An agreement for the construction of a 1,000 MW wind power plant in Karakalpakstan was signed with SANY Renewables International Investment Co., Ltd.

Additionally, an investment agreement was signed with China Electrical Equipment International Company Limited for the construction of a 500 MW solar power plant in the Forish district of the Jizzakh region.

It is worth noting that in January 2024, during his visit to China, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with SANY Chairman Xiang Wenbo.

SANY is among the world's top 10 wind turbine manufacturers and specializes in the development, production, and sale of wind energy systems, as well as in the design, construction, operation, and management of wind power plants.

During the meeting, the President supported the company’s plans to build a wind power plant in Karakalpakstan, localize the production of turbine components, and expand the manufacturing of construction and heavy transport equipment.

China Electric Equipment Group (CEEG) was founded in 1990 and specializes in producing advanced transformers, solar energy storage systems, smart distribution networks, and hydrogen energy technologies.
