COP-29: UAE`s Masdar to Build 1,000-MW Wind Farm in Uzbekistan
At the COP-29 conference held in Baku, Azerbaijan, a contract was signed between the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and Masdar Company from the United Arab Emirates for the implementation of a project to build a 1000 MW wind power plant in the Uchkuduk district of the Navoi region.During the construction of this power plant, 600 to 800 new jobs will be created. As a result of the project, 3.5 billion kWh of electricity will be generated annually, which will save 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
This project is of great importance for Uzbekistan not only from an economic point of view, but also for environmental protection. Thanks to the construction of this wind power plant, emissions into the atmosphere will be reduced by 1.4 million tons per year.
This wind power plant is the next stage of cooperation with Masdar Company, providing Uzbekistan with the opportunity to improve energy security, create new jobs, and promote economic growth.
In line with the UAE initiative “Tripling Renewable Energy Capacity”, we join global efforts to combat climate change and support the goals of the Paris Agreement to expand global cooperation in the field of renewable energy and reduce emissions.
Reference: Masdar is a reliable and strategic partner of Uzbekistan. Within the framework of cooperation with the company, projects with a total capacity of 1497 MW have already been implemented - a wind power plant in Zarafshan (500 MW), as well as solar photovoltaic stations in Karmana (100 MW), Gallaaral (220 MW), Kattakurgan (220 MW) and Sherobod (457 MW). In addition, as part of the implementation of large projects, work is underway to build photovoltaic stations in the Alat district of the Bukhara region (250 MW) and the Guzar district of the Kashkadarya region (300 MW). Today, these power plants make a huge contribution to the development of the renewable energy sector in Uzbekistan.
