In his speech, our President noted that today not only Uzbekistan but many countries around the world are clearly feeling the negative consequences of climate change.

Pollution of air and water, soil erosion, desertification, and the excessive use of fossil fuels are leading to global warming, an increase in natural disasters, and harm to the environment and public health.

In response, our country launched the "Green Space" nationwide project three years ago. Together with neighboring countries, we began implementing the Regional Climate Strategy. The University of Central Asia for Environmental and Climate Change Studies was established in our capital.

Additionally, Uzbekistan became the initiator of two important resolutions adopted by the United Nations on this issue. At present, "green" energy is becoming one of the drivers of our economy.

After thoroughly studying the views and wishes of our people and based on the recommendations made, our President proposed declaring 2025 the "Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy" in Uzbekistan, aiming to raise this work to a new, higher level.

The attendees fully supported this initiative.
