In Karakalpakstan, work has begun on the construction of wind power plants and the launch of industrial enterprises, and new shopping malls have been put into operation.

During the ceremony, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about large-scale efforts to develop the region's economy. Over the past five years, Karakalpakstan has received more than 50 benefits and preferences in areas such as industry, entrepreneurship and infrastructure. Particular attention is paid to investment projects, for which the right to direct allocation of land plots has been introduced in the region. As part of these measures, the necessary infrastructure was provided for projects worth over 50 billion soums.

Thanks to the benefits provided, entrepreneurs were able to save more than 2 trillion soums. 44.5 trillion soums were allocated for the development of the region's business infrastructure, which contributed to the creation of more than 25 thousand new business entities in recent years.

Last year alone, more than 1.4 thousand projects worth 345 million dollars were implemented in Karakalpakstan, which created over 10 thousand jobs. In the first half of this year, the region attracted 730 million dollars in foreign investment.

The number of foreign-owned enterprises in Karakalpakstan has also increased significantly: from 73 in 2017 to 175 at present.

In the coming years, the region plans to implement more than 120 new large projects worth about $9.5 billion. These projects, which will be commissioned in stages until 2028, will create more than 20,000 new jobs and increase production capacity by 12 trillion soums, as well as provide additional budget revenues of 500 billion soums.

President Mirziyoyev noted the importance of the construction and commissioning of new facilities that have begun. Uzbekistan's economic growth places great demands on the energy sector. In recent years, thanks to investments of $2 billion, 10 solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 2.6 gigawatts have been commissioned. By the end of this year, it is planned to connect an additional 1.5 gigawatts of capacity, which will increase the share of "green" energy to 15 percent.

Currently, 32 green projects worth $19 billion are being implemented in Uzbekistan, which will add 18.6 gigawatts to the country's energy system. Karakalpakstan plays a key role in this area, with the potential to generate 680 gigawatts of solar and 120 gigawatts of wind energy.

By 2030, the region plans to build 10 large wind power plants with a total capacity of 10.3 gigawatts, which will require an investment of $11 billion. Once fully operational, they will produce 35 billion kilowatt-hours of green energy per year.

To ensure stable power transmission, three energy storage systems with a total capacity of 400 megawatts will be built in the Kungrad, Beruniy and Karauzak districts.

Today, the construction of the first wind power plant with a capacity of 1 gigawatt, worth 1.2 billion dollars, is beginning in the Kungrad district, which is being implemented by the Chinese company Sany Renewable. The second project - a wind power plant with a capacity of 200 megawatts with a storage system of 100 megawatts of electricity, worth 250 million dollars, will be implemented jointly with the Saudi company ACWA Power in the Beruni and Karauzak districts.

In the future, these projects will ensure the generation of 4.2 billion kilowatt-hours of "green" energy per year, which is equivalent to the annual consumption of 1.75 million households. This will save about 1.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas and reduce emissions into the atmosphere by almost 2 million tons.

At the same time, construction of enterprises for the production of parts and blades for wind turbines is beginning in the Kungrad district, which will allow the annual localization of the production of parts with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts and 120 racks, as well as the production of import-substituting products worth 100 million dollars.

In addition, in the Nukus district, through investments of 24 million dollars, the production of 20 million heating radiators per year will be established.

Particular attention is paid to the improvement of cities and districts, as well as the creation of decent living conditions for the population. These days, 12 projects worth 62 million dollars are being launched in the fields of industry, agriculture, tourism and services. Two large shopping malls in the Beruniysky district and Nukus were officially opened at the ceremony.

The President ceremoniously launched the construction and operation of new facilities, congratulating everyone on the successful launch of these projects, which are significant for the country's economy.
