Masdar Signs Contract for 1 GW Mingbulok Wind Power Plant Construction
The well-known German publication Prnewswire reported that a contract for the construction of a 1 GW wind power plant "Mingbulok" has been signed between Uzbekistan and the UAE's Masdar company, according to "Dunyo."
The agreement was signed during the COP29 event held in Baku.
"During the construction of the new wind power plant, 1,000 jobs will be created, and 60 jobs will be maintained during the operation phase. After the plant is completed, it will provide clean energy to 300,000 households in the region. The agreement strengthens the strategic partnership between Masdar and Uzbekistan and marks the first phase of a broader strategy to build three wind power plants in the country," said Prnewswire.
The publication also mentions that last year Masdar signed a contract to implement new wind projects with a total capacity of 2 GW in Uzbekistan, and besides the Mingbulok wind power plant, the company will also take on two other projects: Akpetki in Karakalpakstan and Buzaubay in the Navoi region.
The UAE's Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, emphasized that the UAE and Uzbekistan share similar views on sustainable development and renewable energy, making their cooperation crucial for the development of clean, zero-emission energy both in Uzbekistan and abroad.
The new wind power plant project will contribute to the growth of Uzbekistan’s renewable energy portfolio.
