Rosatom and Uzatom are preparing a general contract for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan

Rosatom and Uzatom are working on a contract for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov

"Today, the Rosatom State Corporation and the Uzatom agency are working on a draft general contract for the construction of a nuclear power plant, this is a large and multifaceted work. At the same time, Rosatom is ready to provide Uzbekistan with additional proposals, including on low-power nuclear power plants," he said.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, a site has already been chosen for the construction of the station – near Lake Tuzkan in the Jizzakh region. Engineering surveys have been completed on it and its suitability for the construction of a nuclear power plant has been confirmed.
In addition, the optimal technical configuration of the project has been determined.

"Now, together with the Uzbek customer and international experts, technical issues are being worked out on the integration of nuclear power plants into the energy system, working in conjunction with renewable energy sources, reducing water volumes for the operation of the plant, maximizing electricity generation taking into account the climatic conditions of the site," the minister said.

Recall that the agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan was signed Abdullah Aripov and Dmitry Medvedev in September 2018.

In May 2019, a contract was signed with Atomstroyexport JSC, part of the engineering division of Rosatom State Corporation, to carry out engineering and survey work for the development of a technical project
