The first stage of green hydrogen production has been launched in Uzbekistan
The first phase of the green hydrogen production project has been successfully completed in Chirchik (Tashkent region), the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan reports.
The project, initiated by the Saudi company ACWA Power, with a total cost of 88 million US dollars, has created 40 new jobs.
It should be recalled that in November 2023, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, officially launched the construction of a pilot green hydrogen production facility in the Tashkent region with the participation of ACWA Power.
The project is planned in two stages: the first stage предусматривает the launch of green hydrogen production with a capacity of 3,000 tons per year as early as 2025.
At the second stage, it is planned to organize the production of up to 500 thousand tons of ammonia per year in Chirchik based on green hydrogen, as well as the construction of a wind power plant with a total installed capacity of up to 2.4 gigawatts. This will be an important step towards the development of sustainable energy and the “green economy” in Uzbekistan.
