Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan`s SOCAR have agreed on oil exploration and production in the Ustyurt region

Uzbekistan and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) have signed an agreement on geological exploration and oil production at promising sites in the Ustyurt region. The project will become the first major partnership between the two countries in this field.

On July 21, Shavkat Mirziyoyev heard a presentation on international oil and gas projects and instructed to accelerate the development of concrete solutions covering the entire production cycle — from exploration to final product manufacturing. The head of state also demanded an increase in oil production by improving the efficiency of well operations, including at enterprises with foreign participation.

In addition, the meeting addressed preparations for the autumn-winter season and measures to ensure energy stability. The President instructed to speed up the modernization and repair of energy infrastructure, including trunk networks and substations, as well as to ensure a balanced supply of energy resources across all regions of the country. Special attention was given to the effective use of existing capacities and enhancing the energy system's resilience to external stresses.

Following the meeting, specific instructions were given to the responsible authorities for the prompt implementation of all planned measures within a short timeframe.
