Uzbekistan Energy Week 2025: Regional Partnership and the Shift Toward a Green Economy
Uzbekistan Energy Week – UEW 2025 has concluded in Tashkent, becoming a key platform for discussing the future of the region’s energy sector and the implementation of green technologies. Throughout the exhibitions and conferences, experts and business representatives discussed sustainable development strategies, innovative solutions, and energy security issues.Held from May 13 to 15 in Tashkent, the Energy Week brought together 465 companies and brands from 34 countries. The event was organized by the international exhibition company Iteca Exhibitions and its partners, with support from the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Uzbekneftegaz JSC.
The following events took place as part of the week:
The 27th International Oil and Gas Exhibition and Conference of Uzbekistan – OGU 2025
The 18th International Exhibition on Energy, Energy Saving, and Alternative Energy Sources – Power Uzbekistan 2025
The specialized section Green Energy-Saving Technologies – GETCA 2025
The 5th International Energy Conference
The central event was the International Energy Forum of Uzbekistan under the slogan “Regional Partnership for Sustainable Energy”. The forum focused on green energy, especially relevant in Uzbekistan’s Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy.
One of the local companies that showcased its solutions at the exhibition was Protecsis, part of Nura Group. Maruf Tadzhiev, Commercial Director of Protecsis, stated:
“Nura Group has been active in the energy market for 15 years. Today, Protecsis produces relay protection and automation panels for substations ranging from 0.4 to 500 kV.”
He emphasized that the company offers turnkey solutions:
“We adapt to any project and offer clients not only technical but also cost-effective commercial solutions. We have our own design department and can support projects from the design stage to commissioning and startup. We also provide maintenance services.”
Tadzhiev stressed the importance of localizing production:
“Over 50% of our panel production is localized. The remaining components are sourced only from trusted suppliers. We offer clients certified, high-quality solutions that have passed all state tests and meet IEC and GOST standards.”
German Gas Engines for Decentralized Energy
Foreign companies also presented innovative solutions for the energy sector.
Andrey Belousenko, Managing Director of R Schmitt Enertec (Germany), described their gas engines and cogeneration units:
“R Schmitt Enertec manufactures gas engines and cogeneration units in Germany with capacities from 150 to 500 kilowatts, converting gas into electricity or electricity and heat. Our units are highly efficient — with electrical efficiency of up to 42%, and thermal efficiency over 90%.”
Belousenko noted that the engines can run on various gas types:
“Our engines operate on natural gas, associated petroleum gas, biogas, and syngas. We offer decentralized energy solutions suitable for pools, hotels, universities, small towns, industrial sites, and the oil and gas sector.”
He also highlighted Uzbekistan as a promising market:
“We see Uzbekistan as one of the most promising markets, given its growing population and government support for green energy. Unlike solar or wind, gas engines provide stable, reliable power 24/7 — critical for remote areas.”
Russian Cable Accessories Manufacturer
Another participant was the Russian company Tekhelektrosamara, a producer of cable accessories.
Maxim Rusinov, Head of the Foreign Trade Department, commented:
“Tekhelektrosamara has participated in this exhibition for three years and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. We are the only plant in Russia with a full production cycle of cable joints and a leading producer of cable handling tools. We offer the Uzbek market high-quality products and are actively seeking partners.”
Rusinov expressed hope for expanded cooperation:
“We already have representatives in Uzbekistan, but we aim to strengthen partnerships further. We hope to find new partners this year to represent our products more effectively.”
OGU 2025 and Energy Week Highlights
One of the key events was the OGU 2025 oil and gas exhibition and conference, where Uzbekneftegaz JSC presented the achievements of 10 major production, processing, and petrochemical enterprises on a unified stand.
A total of 27 domestic companies showcased oil and gas and metrology equipment, as well as equipment maintenance services.
That Energy Week combined both energy and oil and gas events emphasizes the importance of both sectors to Uzbekistan’s economy. Technologies and equipment for oil and gas production were widely featured.
At the forum held on the first day of the week, Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov announced that exploration is underway at lithium, phosphate, and other critical mineral deposits.
He also shared plans to triple copper production in the coming years — not only to increase extraction but also to boost production of value-added copper products.
The Minister also noted that Uzbekistan and the Perm Region of Russia will sign an industrial cooperation agreement during the Energy Week.
Kazakhstan’s KazPerfoEngineering and Russia’s Presence
Kazakhstan-based KazPerfoEngineering LLP attracted attention as Kazakhstan’s only producer of cumulative perforating charges using hexogen, used across oil and gas fields. The company successfully competes with foreign manufacturers.
Russia was widely represented at the exhibition, with 28 companies, including major players like Gazprom, Severstal, Ural Steel, Tatneft, Burservice, EMK Steeltrade, a joint stand of the Perm Region, the Republic of Karelia’s booth, and others.
Six companies from Bashkortostan presented their services related to oil and gas equipment.
China’s Technological Strength
As with many industrial exhibitions held in Uzbekistan, Chinese companies were the most numerous participants.
Among them, JereH, a provider of integrated oilfield equipment, stood out. The company displayed a large-scale model of its services, offering a wide range of equipment for oilfield development, including cementing units, hydraulic fracturing equipment, coiled tubing units, pumping systems, and nitrogen generation units.
Uzbekistan Energy Week 2025 confirmed its status as a vital event for the region’s energy industry. It became a platform for establishing new business connections, sharing experience, and discussing development strategies that will contribute to sustainable growth and energy security in Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
