Uzbekistan Energy Week: Regional Dialogue and Business Join Forces

One of the largest conference and exhibition events in Uzbekistan’s fuel and energy sector — Uzbekistan Energy Week UEW 2025 — is taking place at the SAEx Uzbekistan International Exhibition Center.

The event is organized by the international exhibition company Iteca Exhibitions, in partnership with ICA Eurasia Group and Congresses of Central Asia (CCA), with official support from the Committee on Entrepreneurship, Competition and Industry of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, the Ministries of Energy, Investments, Industry and Trade, and JSC Uzbekneftegaz.

The energy block of events includes exhibitions and conferences of strategic importance that define the development agenda and promote regional dialogue:

27th International Oil & Gas Exhibition and Conference — OGU 2025

18th International Energy, Energy Saving, and Alternative Energy Sources Exhibition — Power Uzbekistan 2025

Specialized section on Green Energy Saving Technologies — GETCA 2025

5th International Energy Conference

The event integrates discussions across two key areas of the energy sector: hydrocarbon extraction and electric power. Leading international experts and industry leaders are discussing sustainable development strategies, advanced technologies, and the future of safe energy. The agenda also features ministerial and expert dialogues, plenary discussions, panel sessions, and technical briefings. Special attention is paid to green energy — particularly relevant in 2025, declared the Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy by the President of Uzbekistan.

The event fosters a constructive dialogue between industry leaders and business representatives, while domestic and international experts ensure synergy between theory and practice, experience and innovation.

The joint exposition brings together 465 companies and brands, more than 120 speakers, and 1,420 delegates. Participants represent 34 countries, including Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, the UK, Germany, Georgia, India, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, UAE, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, the US, Turkey, and Uzbekistan.

The event opened with the 27th International OGU Conference, which has been held since 1997 and around which Uzbekistan Energy Week in its current format has developed. Today, OGU is an effective platform for presenting innovations, equipment, and technologies to specialists and decision-makers, and for direct negotiations with producers and suppliers.

The first plenary session featured a ministerial dialogue with participation from Uzbek Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Turkmenistan’s State Minister and Chairman of Turkmengaz Maksat Babaev, and other officials.

Speakers emphasized that while hydrocarbons remain vital to economic stability, transitioning to green technologies requires years of dedicated effort and investment at global, regional, and national levels.

Uzbekistan’s oil and gas sector is a key driver of economic growth, ensuring production growth, especially of high value-added products. Large-scale modernization, technological upgrades, energy efficiency improvements, and carbon footprint reduction are ongoing. Uzbekneftegaz, the general sponsor of the event, is showcasing ten major enterprises, including Bukhara Refinery, Shurtan and Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complexes, and Uzbekistan GTL. The company is active in exploration, production, processing, petrochemicals, marketing, and sales. The country’s 130 hydrocarbon fields account for 50% of its reserves.

On the sidelines of the forum, Uzbekneftegaz Chairman Bakhodirjon Sidikov met with KazMunayGas Chairman Askhat Khasenov. The two companies signed a Roadmap to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in gas processing, hydrocarbon production, and new fuel technologies.

According to Sidikov, the shift toward green energy requires a systematic approach. Environmental responsibility, energy efficiency, and green technologies are increasingly important, while hydrocarbons remain a cornerstone of energy security. The OGU platform remains crucial for regional cooperation, experience exchange, and joint investment promotion.

At the SAEx exhibition site, 27 Uzbek companies showcase local oil and gas and metering equipment and related services.

Germany is represented by 14 companies displaying pumps, compressors, gas engines, and measuring instruments. Russia is represented by 28 companies, including Gazprom, Rosatom, Severstal, Ural Steel, and Tatneft. Chinese participation is unprecedented — 59 companies are exhibiting digital solutions, energy-saving technologies, engineering services, and oil refining equipment.

According to Xiao Dien Yun from China Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., the company has begun construction of a solar power plant in Tashkent Region and is developing a wind power project in Navoi Region.

Each country aims to ensure secure, affordable energy access while meeting environmental standards. In Uzbekistan, priority is given to diversifying energy sources and adopting modern technologies.

By 2030, renewables are expected to account for 25% of total energy generation. Major modernization projects are underway, focused on energy efficiency, digitalization, and infrastructure upgrades.

In this context, the 18th Power Uzbekistan Exhibition and the GETCA 2025 section are essential to the sector's continued progress, offering advanced and alternative energy technologies.

The program also includes G2B and B2B meetings, bilateral agreement signings, and youth-focused events under Uzbekneftegaz’s Youth Energy Section, including a hackathon, quiz games, and energy innovation contests.

All events are being held on one site, creating an effective space for dialogue, expertise, innovation, and partnerships that support the sustainable development of Uzbekistan’s energy sector.
