Electricity production increased in Uzbekistan in 2025, and solar and wind energy production doubled — Ministry of Energy
In 2025, electricity production in Uzbekistan increased by 6%, while output from solar and wind power plants doubled and for the first time exceeded 10.5 billion kilowatt-hours.
According to the Ministry of Energy, green power generation, including hydropower, also reached 16.8 billion kilowatt-hours — an increase of 29%.
Thanks to renewable energy sources, the country saved 3.2 billion cubic meters of gas and reduced harmful emissions by 4.7 million tons.
In 2025, 42 new projects with a total capacity of 4,647 megawatts were commissioned: 5 solar power plants, 4 wind farms, 10 energy storage systems, 1 thermal power plant, and 2 cogeneration units. Construction continues on 21 projects with a combined capacity of 3,508 megawatts, including power plants, storage systems, substations, and 2,050 kilometers of new power grids.
Thousands of kilometers of main and distribution networks, as well as transformers and substations, were overhauled. This improved electricity supply for more than 800,000 households in 954 mahallas.
The energy efficiency program made it possible to save 2.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity and 2 billion cubic meters of gas.
Earlier, it was reported that the first closed-type substation in Uzbekistan is being built in New Tashkent in cooperation with Chinese partners. It will operate based on modern trigeneration technology. Its uniqueness lies in simultaneously providing the city with heating, cooling, and energy savings.
