Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have created a joint venture for a "green" energy corridor
Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan have established a joint venture Green Corridor Union LLC to build a "green" energy corridor to Europe.
On July 1, representatives from:
- Azerbaijan's "Azerenergy" OJSC
- "Uzbekistan National Electric Networks"
- "KEGOC" (Kazakhstan)
signed an agreement to establish the joint venture and approve its charter.

In November 2024, during COP-29 in Baku, the presidents of the three countries signed a strategic partnership agreement. Azerbaijani Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov emphasized the importance of this agreement.
Expert commentary:
"By 2030, Uzbekistan's electricity demand is projected to reach 120-125 billion kWh. We have numerous generation facilities with total capacity of about 135 billion kWh. All excess capacity will be exported to Europe once the infrastructure is ready," stated Umid Mamadaminov, Deputy Energy Minister of Uzbekistan.
